Manklin Creek Reflections

Change is hard.My husband and I changed it all in June 2018 when we packed up and relocated from Rochester, NY to The Parke in Ocean Pines. Our first few months were spent choosing paint colors, negotiating on where to place the televisions, finding doctors and learning how to survive without a Wegmans Grocery Store in every community. Four grandchildren back in Rochester left an empty spot in my heart as well as a best friend who was always available for a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Yea, I was homesick. We were here all of two months before I realised that our development sat on a creek and there was a public pier around the corner. Eager to explore, we wandered down there one morning and as I got my first glimpse of Manklin Creek….. BAM!, it hit me. We were home and I was thrilled with our decision to move to Ocean Pines. I volunteered to do a display in our clubhouse , but had no clue what I was going to feature. I just knew I needed the motivation to get out exploring and shooting with my camera. When I first got the idea to shoot Manklin Creek, I did a walk around and was discouraged. The area is just not all that pretty in the pre-spring dawn. Then I did a walk-around with my camera and through my lens I could see the shapes of the shoreline, the textures of the vegetation and the beautiful blues and browns of the season. I wandered from The Point to The Parke to the Wood Duck Isles during sunrises and sunsets and decided Manklin Creek is quite lovely in all seasons.
